  • Hello!

At first I was feeling a bit standoff'ish... but after reading some intros and lurking around the board, I've found that many people are just like me. Struggling to lose weight and have found something they can be successful at. I hope to be just as sucessful.

My name is Michelle I'm a wife and mother of 2 daughters. Over the past 10 years I've gained about 30 lbs.

Last year before a trip to Disneyland, i did really good with working out, eating decent and I managed to go down from 174lbs starting to 163lbs (the morning of our departure) that was 6 months ago and now I am back to weighting 176 lbs. I my goal is to get down to 150 lbs and to maintain that weight.

I work full time and parent full time, so working out eating right has been hard for me. A few years back I did a modified version of Atkins and lost weight. I like carbs, but I also have seen the weight melt off when I've restricted myself from carbs.

Hi to all and thanks for allowing me to be a part of your community.

Soon I will be posting a before picture and I will take measurements and I plan to start induction on Oct 15th.

Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to stop by the library and pick up the Atkins 2002 new Revolutionary book and begin reading it to night.

I am also planning out my week 1 menu and plan to prepare meals the best I can in advance.

    Re: Hello!

Welcome to the Atkins Board Michelle.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. I'm glad you are going to read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - if you can find a copy for yourself so you don't have to keep checking it out of the library it will be a valuable tool for you.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

Any and all questions can and will be answered - all you have to do is ask!! Good luck.
