    Hi my name is Angela and I am not new to Atkins but I am definitely new to message boards and forums. I hope I am doing this right.

    The first time that I tried the Atkins WOE I too had the golden weight loss, 16 pounds in the first two weeks. This Time however the weight is very slow to come off. I also go the gym regularly this time around. I quit smoking almost 2 years ago and have gained about 20 lbs. I would like to lose that 20 lbs. and another 10. This would put me at a healthy 150. I beleive that is a weight that I am comfortable at and can maintain. I read the roll call most mornings and am inspired by all the help you guys give each other. I have checked out the atkins sight recipes and Linda's low carb recipes, some of the ingredients are not available in the my small town in Ontario Canada. Hope to stay motivated and be motivational on this sight.

    Hi Angela and welcome. Don't worry if you cant always get ingredients! I live without most things and do just fine. If you ever are looking for a way around a recipe, post an inquiry and maybe we can find an alternative for you.

      Hi Angela
      Nice to have another Canadian join. Did you have a good thanksgiving?
      You do not need that many special ingredients to cook low carb - we try to keep it whole food as much as possible.
      There are a couple of on-line low carb grocery stores that you can order from. Maybe down the line when you are out of induction and can have more of a selection.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

          Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).


          Don't worry about not having all the ingredients for each recipe -- I've made up recipes or used the recipes and just left out what I didn't have or don't like. The most important thing to remember is -- don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
          Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.
