    Hello Everyone!!!

I have been lurking for sometime and decided to join today.

This will be my 2nd time doing Atkins.
I tried this the 1st time in 2004. I was doing really well and lost over 50 pounds.
Then my father-in-law died and the stress and other factors, I feel off of the wagon.
I am waiting until November 3rd to start again. I have 2 birthdays and Halloween coming up and don't want to risk the cheating. I don't want to screw this up again.

I just have 1 question for the ones who have done this more than once :

Is there any truth to the "One Golden Shot" theory?
I would appreciate any opinions on this.
When I did Atkins the 1st time, I lost around 4-6 pounds a week.
I just don't want to expect too much weight loss and be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
I want to be realistic, but all I have to base that on is how I lost weight before.

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a GREAT Day!!!

    Welcome!

Not in my opinion. Many people can lose multiple times. The thing that is true is that it's not likely to be like it was before ... because this is now ... you can't ever do it "for the first time" again.

I wouldn't "expect" to lose any particular number of pounds over any time frame ... that's setting yourself up for disappointment.

      Welcome to ADBB!

I don't believe in it. I've seen too many people who reached goal and maintained (are maintaining) their second time around.

You might want to check the Second Time Around Club and the Century Club. The links are below.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Birthdays, Holidays and other Special Occassions happen....so you're going to have to find a way to get through them sometime....you might as well learn now.

Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. Also remember, Atkins is a lifetime eating plan, not a “quick fix diet”.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
