  • There must be something to this...

So for the last several months I've been attempting to eat "healthy" because I couldn't believe Atkins could possibly be good for me. Not consistently, but I've been eating a lot of high fiber bread and bananas and other fruit every day, and guess what? I weigh more than ever before.

The success stories on this board are amazing so now I know there must be something to this. I've sat here tonight, blown the dust off the book and am ready to start. (Yes, I've owned a copy for years.)

#1 - it's time to get healthy. No one can keep up this kind of horrible eating habits and not pay the price.

#2 - my nephew announced his engagement last week. The wedding is in about 18 months and I won't be the fat lady in the wedding photos.

    Wish me luck!

Welcome Blueberry and good luck! I know what you mean about not wanting to be the big one in wedding pics. I'll be a bridesmaid for the first time this coming May and the 2nd biggest woman in the bridal party (after me, of course) is a freaking 5'7" size 10!!!

I'll be thinking about you as the wedding gets closer. Happy induction!

Hi blueberry. Make sure you have the 2002 version, that is the one we use on this site. There are substantial changes from the 1992 version. It is definitely a big help to read through it before you make the mistakes that many newbies make.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Thanks for the advice. I do have the right book. That's what is kind of sad. I've been armed with all the right tools and information for a long time but never took advantage of it. Now I'm scared to actually start because it feels like this is a last resort and I don't want to fail.

But I just had breakfast so it's one meal down, the rest of my life to go!

Just do it. There is no such thing as a last chance. We have people here dieting well into their senior years and enjoying Atkins. Glad you have that first meal under your belt. Is the rest of your day planned out well?

Not really planned out down to the meals yet, but I've been to the store and have all the right foods to eat. So there are no excuses at all. Confidence is setting in!

And how's this for a good start? I just finished putting an apple pie in the oven that I need to take to the office. And I didn't even nibble that first bite of anything or lick the spoon! It's not even tempting at all.

That is great. I have caught myself with a spoon half way into my mouth a few days. So you are better than I am.
Some day you may want to bring some Atkins legal treats to your office and you can share it with everone.
Offices can be evil places. So be armed with confidence and will when you go there.
Well with such a good start, is sounds like the rest of the day should be a breeze.

It is often a good thing for us to have some reserves of legal stuff pre prepared. So cook up some extra boiled eggs. Have some cans of tuna around. Left over beef and chicken for easy snacks.
