  • New Here

Hi all. I am new to the board.

I have just started the induction phase on October 13th. I weighed at my mother in laws and do not have a scale here at home, yet. It's on its way, so I'll weigh in Friday to see how I'm doing. My husband just started on October 17th and I'm so glad that he has decided to join me.

This is not our first try at Atkins. In 1999 we both went on Atkins and stuck strictly to the plan. I started at 182 and finished at 123, I went from a size 16 to a 4. Amazing! I lost an average of 5 pounds a week the first 8 weeks and in two months had lost a whopping 40 pounds. The rate at which the fat melted off of me excited me and gave me a new sense of power that I'd never experienced when it came to my weight. I'll never forget that Christmas, the family members that only seen me once a year barely recognized me. My husband lost 85 pounds. He started somewhere around 325 pounds and we were both new people.

I found out I was expected our third daughter in 2000. I had her in 2001. I did really well keeping my weight off until I began nursing her. My appetite was fierce and I forsook any healthy eating and portion control. Within 6 months I had gained it all back. I wasn't worried though, I knew the secret and knew that as soon as I was ready, I'd get back on track and lose it all again.

What an idiot I was! Here I am in 2009, 38 years old and a full 8 years later and I've attempted to get back on induction more times that I can count. I have no idea why it's sooo much harder the second, third, fourth, fifth ect... time around. I had such self control and strong will power the first time and since then no matter how hard I've tried I've fallen. I even lost 23 pounds earlier this year in 12 weeks. I wasn't doing induction but eating low carb so the loss was slower but when I fell, I binged and gained it all back.

Currently I am sitting at 195 and my husband is at 385, I do believe this is the highest weight for both of us. I was very excited to find this board and I'm hoping that it'll provide some accountability for me so that I can provide the accountability to my husband. If I fall, he falls.

I am so tired of being a human weight gain/loss yo yo. I want to get this weight off for good.

You can really do this(both of you)I felt like that for years too and after losing some weight during pregnancies I would tend to put more on but trust me you just need willpower and have to be very determined. All the best I hope you achieve your goals this time around.

            Re: New Here

Thanks for the welcome here. Could you all tell where I should go now? Should I go the board for second timers or what?

I've been looking through the pictures of before and after and I have to say that it IS inspiring! There were a couple that really stood out to me, especially the one where the guy lost the 40 pounds in 7 weeks. Oh my goodness the difference it made. I showed that one to my husband and we agreed to be strict with our induction. We usually follow induction to a T except for peanut butter, we have a hard time giving that up because it becomes our sweet food. I told him at least 14 days strict and then maybe we could add in back in.

            Thanks again!

              Hi
You can choose where you want to go. You can go to STAC or to the induction forum or both if you like.
              Welcome to ADBB
And I have to tell you this: Peanut butter is poison - it really is (well it is to me at least - I cannot control myself around it - last food I would add back into my diet)
