Hi, my name's Vera and I'm a recent college grad who's trying to get rid of the "Freshman 15" along with the "Sophomore 20," and the "Junior 25." Lol. I recently moved to Las Vegas and since moving I've been eating a lot of junk foods, fast foods, and pastries since they're free in the Bally's employee cafeteria. Like Los Angeles, Vegas is a town where appearance matters. Where you're more likely to get into a nightclub if you're "hot." It may sound vain, but I want to turn heads when I walk down the Strip. But it's not just my ego. I feel that I'm really unhealthy and I need to make a change so I can be happy when I look in the mirror, not just when I get looks from passerby. I'm currently on Day 12 of Induction and I've lost about 3 pounds since starting. I'm hoping to lose 50 when this is all said and done. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be able to look at my self and say, "Vera, you look hot. And you feel hot." I'm glad I found a community like this where I can share my thoughts and problems and hopefully, in time, be able to help people who are feeling the way I am now.

Re: Hello, I'm Vera
Welcome Vera, the best advice I can give is to read the book cover to cover. Skip the Atkins products and go for real food. Drink lots of plain water, stay away from sweeteners if you can, and be sure to eat enough and eat your veggies.
I know it is hard when all that stuff is staring you in the face but once you get used to eating Akins it gets easier and easier.

Re: Hello, I'm Vera
Thanks for the advice. I have read the whole book and even re-read some parts. I find that my biggest problem is water. I feel like I need to force myself to drink 8 glasses a day 'cause I really never feel that thirsty. But I know water is important so that's what I'm going to do.

Re: Hello, I'm Vera
I just keep a full big glass nearby and sip all day long. As you drink more, you will actually want more so that helps. And your bladder adjusts over time too. There's no logical reason for it but for many of us, the water intake goes hand in hand with our losses.

Welcome Vera -
Glad you've read the book already - that puts you ahead of many people who are just starting.
The new challenges will be starting in the next few days -- check them out and join a couple that interest you. A minimum of 64 ounces of PURE water (nothing added) is mandatory as you've read in the book -- like Jill said, it will get easier to drink and you will actually start enjoying it!!
Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)
The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
