  • Hi, you can call me buttmunch

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum. I have been reading the atkins books for about 2 weeks now. I am ready to start the inducytion phase tomorrow 10/26/09. I can't wait to meet others just like me. I hope to find the confidence i use to have when i was younger, but i also am doing this for my health.. I have pcos and i am going ivf. I have had 3 failed ivfs so i want to lose some weight before i try my next cycle of ivf next summer... But then again... Hopefully with someweight loss, i can get pregnant naturally. But the ultimate reason for my life style change is for my 11 year old daughter. She says i am her role model which i am not proud of... I dont want her following my footsteps.

I am so excited and hope to accomplish what i have my goal set for. Glad to join for the support and hopefully i can offer some support myself.

    Thanks.

Re: Hi, you can call me buttmunch

Welcome. So if you are starting tomorrow and have read the book (You get an A+ for reading it ahead of time--keep it handy for reference) then you have shopped and planned out your menu for tomorrow, right? Planning ahead with emergency snacks, etc. is the key. Drink a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of plain water, limit your sweeteners to 3 portions a day, and eat your veggies! You will be off to a great start. Try to take measurements today and read your scale first thing tomorrow--then put the results of both away for 2 full weeks. The scale will bob up and down so don't make yourself crazy. Days 2 and 3 tend to be the worst. Stick it out and you should start feeling great as the first week ends. Wishing you success.

    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Re: Hi, you can call me buttmunch

Thank you Chinadoll. Great Advice. I did read the book and it really got me motivated. I didn't want to start until I was prepared. I think the hardest for me will be to give up tortillas and soda. Everything else hopefully will be a peice of cake or make that a peice of Brocalli... lol. I love meat and I do good with vegetables. So I started my morning with 3 scrambled eggs and a few sausage links and I am down 16.9 oz of water for breakfast.. 3 more bottles to go for the day.

I do have the tendency to weigh myself everyday and I get so frusterated, but I told my DD to put the scale away for me and I will ask for it in 2 weeks. She said ok. I also took some before pics and Aaarrrgh, I just about cried... they were terrible. But I won't post them until I lose at least 20 lbs. I want to see the difference.

Thanks again Chinadoll. And I see u r down 14 yourself... congrats and good luck to you as well.

Re: Hi, you can call me buttmunch

        Welcome!

My advice would be to drink 1/2 your current weight in ounces of water ... so that would be around 130 ounces.

64 ounces is only the MINIMUM ... more doesn't hurt!

Also ... try to have vegetables with every meal ... it's easy enough to put some in scrambled eggs.

Re: Hi, you can call me buttmunch

Wow, the support is great. Thank you all. I do plan on making me some "Ranchero Eggs" tomorrow (scrambled eggs with chopped, onion, tomato and jalapeno) Yummy... can I add a little sour cram to it too?

atkinsgal... 130 oz of water...ouch. Well, I will do more than my 64, I already had 34 before lunch. Ill have another 34 at lunch an maybe 17 before I go home. I dont want any accidents on the train ride home and the rest I will have it at home for dinner.

barrnone... Challenges...like actual challenges here? Wow, I have to look into that. I think I will do that. Thnx.

I am going to eat my lunch... today I have some baked chicken, green beans and steamed cabbage.

Thanks again for all your support.

exercise challenges, as well as other types like reading the book.

I'm currently in the following challenges: situps, pushups and squats. I'm also climbing a mountain [very slowly], and will be starting a Wii challenge in November.

Just look in the main forum for challenges - the sign up for November is just starting.

Just start with going for your 64 ounces and build up from there over a couple of weeks. Dont try for a gallon right off the bat. Believe it or not, it gets easier and you will actually crave water soon.

Check your vegetable list...make sure if you are having green beans AND cabbage you are having 1/2 cup of each -- I didn't notice things like that when I first started and figured out I was eating too much of the 2nd list of vegetables most days!

Welcome !!! Great job on doing your homework before starting. Don't forget to do this for YOU (in addition to your daughter and IVF), and the rest should follow. Now your next homework is to dig into the forums on this board. There is a ton of info, and yes, the challenges are invaluable (for me at least). FYI - the challenges I have found are in two places (I almost missed the second). In the Atkins for Health, and in Miscellaneous Forums. Best wishes....
