  • Not new to Low carbing, but new to Akins...

    Hello everyone!

I am so happy to have found this place. I am not new to eating this WOE, as I have eaten Low carb for last few years, about 4 i guess and have lost weight. I started at a hefty 340+ and loss down to 240-ish and have been basically eating sloppy and sorta maintaining this weight for a long time. I got REAL sloppy food wise ( as in eating anything and everything I wanted) and got up to 259.5. This was last Friday. I have been since, doing a strict induction, writing down EVERY thing I put in my mouth.

I never done that before, meaning being serious and actually going by the real plan. Even though I managed to lose little over 100lbs and some-what maintain,..I never followed Atkins, nor ANY plan to the letter. I sorta just did my "Own thing" Yeah it worked to some degree, but I fully admit too, that the whole time I was loosing, I was also over eating, albeit Low Carb, I was still.....Way way over eating to be honest...I finally realized that I CAN'T continue to over eat...LC or not,..and reach my goals...

I'm also tired of bouncing around on the scale and really want to reach my goals, so I decided to give Atkins a try...a real try, by the book, as it "Was written" and not "my way"..and guess what? I weighed today and since Friday ( only 3 days ago..) I went from 259.5 to 252.0...A 7.5 Loss!! I am So happy!!! I know things will slow down, but I also know that if I keep on..keeping on,..I'll get to my goals..

My short term goal is to get below 230, next goal below 210, next below 180!!!! For my height and frame, my Dr. said that will be a decent weight for me. Its kinda hard to imagine, but once I hit, say the 180 mark, I would have loss in total..a whopping..160+ pounds...Wow....I thank goodness that I am starting where I currently am, as it could certainly been a whole lot worse, meaning that I could have re-gained every pound previously lost and be back over the 340 mark again...So on ward and forward I go...

Well, here is to all of our success ,..and i look forward to getting to know you!

Hey Anna, my story is similar to yours but this time around I am trying hard to stick to the plan. The older I get the less leeway I have to mess with things and still lose. Welcome to ADBB. And congratulations on your losses so far.

    HW 298
    HW (this time) 248
    GOAL ONE 228
    (take 2)
    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily, protein AND FATS. The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
