Hi everyone, have just found this site
I am three weeks into Atkins and have lost 17 lbs so far. Its the only diet that works for me, I am hypothyroid, and have always found it difficult to lose weight despite not eating a great deal and sticking to low fat diets.

Thank you for your replies to my post, I am remaining optimistc although previously the weight loss slowed down a lot after the initial three weeks.
I found that my joints were aching yesterday so took a flax seed oil capsule. Does anyone know if that affects ketosis?
Keep taking the water, but I am forever in the Loo.
Back and forth.
I am trying to lose a stone by Christmas as I am going to see my grandchildren in London.
You all seem to be doing well keep up the good work xx

Hi and welcome -
Flaxseed oil shouldn't bother keotsis at all - and going to the bathroom will subside after a few days when your body gets use to the additional water you are drinking.
There is a thread here dealing with thyroid problems - here: Thyroid - Atkins Diet
Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
