  • Hello from the UK fellow slimmers :o)

    Hey guys and gals,

Well im a 26 year old guy who in the past 2 years managed to scoff an extra 2 stone in beers and pizza! Decided its time to lose my belly and tone up so my aim is to lose 14lbs in the next 4 weeks. From what I have read this is not an unrealistic goal?!

All i need to do now is drill in to my brain that I can no longer eat chocolate cake or drink coke.. hmmmm! Getting there slowly! Anyway, if anyone has any great tips about getting into ketosis then I would really appreciate them! I have read Dr Atkins book so I get the facts, just need to turn them into a realistic way of eating that doesn't take over everyday routines!

Good luck with your atkins experience and I hope to hear from you!

The best way to get into ketosis is to do Induction by the book. Eat your veggies, drink a lot of water, limit your cheeses, do not use the bars and shakes (they seem to stop a lot of folks cold) and commit to doing this cleanly for the full two weeks. Since you do not have a lot to lose, I would go directly from there to the Ongoing Weight Loss section. Your goal is reasonable but keep in mind that if you return to your old habits, the weight will come back-and quickly.

    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Hi Jill (Chinadoll) - Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the motivating words I am going to make sure I stick to it by the book and take your words into my routine! I do have a question about what an American cup is in UK terms. I am taking that to mean about the size of my fist? Is that about right? I dont have electronic scales i'm afraid

      Thanks,

It is the equivalent size of eight fluid ounces. Assuming you don't have massive hands, a fist size is about right or a wee bit over since you are a guy. I would say if you are referring to veggies its more important to count the carbs and not the cups since veggie and lettuce counts vary. Many of use fitday.com to help keep track.
