  • Knee Deep in Induction (My Intro)

What's up everybody, this is Joe and I'm about 4+ weeks into an extended Induction phase. My total goal loss is 50lb., down about 10-12 so far....

and I don't want to see another slice of bacon for the rest of my life!

haha for real tho---and I actually still like bacon and linguica sausage doing the trick too--going good, love the lack of cravings and consistent blood sugar. Guess I got two problems rite now (1) work full-time and have a professional exam coming up so haven't worked out in quite a while.....my body's used to lifting weights (running? not so much lol) and (2) need some induction recipes! Tough to find meals that keep me under the 20g carb limit without just slugging a steak or something.

Anyway, hello all and hopefully we'll all be hitting our goals soon.

    >>eed some induction recipes!>>

    Welcome!

There's recipes on this forum Atkins Food and Recipes - Atkins Diet and this is a good site:

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

Please consider moving to OWL ... Atkins isn't about "extended" Induction.

You don't get to "maintenance" without passing through OWL.

Welcome you seem t be getting along well and follow the links posted above, especially Linda's Low Carb. Alot of her recipes can be frozen and they are even better the next day!! Good luck, you'll get there and props to you for putting in the effort to exercise!

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

The new challenges will be starting in the next few days -- check them out and join a couple that interest you.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

Re: Knee Deep in Induction (My Intro)

Welcome Joe. Linda's site is really the best place for recipes. I try to make ahead some easy "go withs" to top meats in a pinch. For example, you can always top ground beef or chicken breasts with salsa, guac and cheese. Or fry up a bunch of mushrooms, onions and peppers and just warm some up to go over your meats. You can also do an easy chicken or eggplant parmesan with some tomato sauce, oregano and some cheeses. Just top the fried chicken or eggplant and bake. Also a quiche is a great thing to make ahead and have. You can fill it with all sorts of cheese and veggies.

            GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
            FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Hey Joe, Welcome aboard, great to see another man here! It may seem odd to be checking recipe sights but Linds'a low carb is a great place. Follow some of the links that you were given above, you will gain some solid information. I know I have a tendency to rely on fast food hot dogs at times....not really what Atkins is all about. A little time spent finding a half dozen recipes and learning to make them is time well spent. My favorite is the mockafoni and cheese. It's easy man food with a 20 minute prep time. Hope you do well!
