  • Greetings and Salutations!

After some time spent on South Beach (about 6 weeks and 8-10 lbs), I noticed that I had plateaued. I decided that I would try Atkins and see if I could jump start my weight loss again. I found this site and love the way all of you support one another. I hope to become a member of this community and support everyone in their journey as well.

ps...love the idea of pork rinds as they can act as chips while I eat tuna salad...my favorite Atkins meal!

    Re: Greetings and Salutations!

    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges are starting for the month -- check them out and join a couple that interest you. Remember, Atkins is a lifestyle change, it's not a quick fix or a jumpstart. Once you commit to Atkins you will hopefully feel, like so many of us, it's not a "diet" it's the only way you want to eat.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

The challenges have just started, look around and see if any interest you and join in. If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.

      Re: Greetings and Salutations!

      Hi & welcome.

Just a quick tip...salt makes us retain water (& the scale doesn't move)...pork rinds are VERY salty. Just use in moderation

        Welcome Smarti1979
You're right, this is a very supportive group. Be patient and you will lose on the WOE. If you've read the book, or many of the postings, I'm sure you have discovered you WILL have plateaus while the body adjusts, but you will lose. Post often, ask questions, vent. It all helps.
