I have been on Atkins for about 8 weeks now. I have only lost 8 pounds, coming off slowly..... but find it is an easy diet as far as not getting hungry. I started at 160 and am now done to 152. I have found that homemade whip cream with sugar free jello are my lifeline, love that stuff.

        Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges are starting for the month -- check them out and join a couple that interest you.

Check the ingredients in your jello if it's not made with Splenda you shouldn't be eating it and hnestly, it's best to kill off the sweet tooth as soon as possible - it may seem harsh, but I finally did it and feel so much better!

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

          Re: New to the forum

Hi nodreffahs and welcome. If your weight loss is crawling along, you are well advised to try moving to Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL). Rung one is just adding 5 more grams of veggies and that seems to rev up many people's weight losses. After that you add in more dairy and other things in subsequent Rungs. Your weight losses continue, but the Rungs teach you about which foods trigger cravings, how to add carbs back in and in what quantities, and give you much more variety than Induction.

Thank you all for the great advice and for the welcome. I never thought to check what kind of sweetener Great Value uses in their sugar free jello. Have to look at that. I may just take the advice and not eat jello and see what happens. The whip cream I make is 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 2 tsp sugar free vanilla pudding and a touch of splenda. Does that sound okay to eat? I guess I should check what kind of sweetener is in the pudding too.

S/F pudding isn't allowed on Induction.

Also ... you don't need ANYTHING other than cream to have whipped cream. It doesn't need a sweetener.

Also ... remember that the limit of cream per day is 2-3 Tbs., unwhipped.

Great Value sugar free jello ingredients:

Gelatin, adipic acid, disodium phosphate, altodextrin, fumaric acid, contains less than 2% of artificial flavor, aspartame and acesulfame potassium, red 40.

There is a recipe on Linda's site for geletin you make yourself - that way you know exactly what's in it and can make it whatever flavor you want (using extract and food coloring). I didn't llike using Sugar Free Kool-Aid so I used cherry extract and red food coloring (just 2 drops) and had a wonderful tasting desert. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes
