  • need this. getting married!

I'm getting married next Halloween! I am really looking forward to losing some weight. I used to be very active and played a lot of sports. Ever since I stopped working so hard and became a bit older, I've slowly put on weight. I was in an unhealthy relationship and started becoming depressed and eating all the time. I started getting stretch marks and only being able to wear sweat pants. After the break up, I became depressed and did the opposite. just didn't eat at all! And the immediate weight I lost came creeping back.
Well, now I am in a really happy phase of my life. Who would have thought that I'd be getting married so soon after my really negative experience with my last long term relationship?

My fiancee is 140 lbs and 6'2. So I always feel a bit bigger when I am around him. The honeymoon and wedding are motivation enough but seeing his skin and bones everyday while he sits in bed and eats donuts really starts to wear on me. I don't think i'll ever be the type of person who can eat a box of donuts and not at least feel awful and bloated afterward. So, I'm embarking on a journey of healthy habits, portion control, water until I can't stand it anymore and a happy face when I try on wedding dresses. Gotta be ready for the next journey too.

If anyone else would like to talk, I would love to! I need all the help and motivation I can get!

Welcome and congratulations on the wedding!

If it's any consolation, your finance will not escape the peril of eating donuts ... it may take a while, but it's probably going to catch up with him at some point!

            Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Atkins isn't a quick fix -- it's not a "diet" -- it's a way of eating over your lifetime. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges are starting for the month -- check them out and join a couple that interest you.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

BTW -- my 1st husband was 6'1" and 125 when we were married. He ate everything fattening to me the entire time we were married and when I divorced him he weighed 140. My mother saw him about 10 years later and said he was "heavy"....he told her he weighed 190 -- YEA...FINALLY! It will happen to your husband to be....give it time!

Congratulations on getting married! I'm starting Atkins myself and it seems like a great (and doable) way of life. Can't wait to hear more from you on your journey! Good luck!
