  • New to board and Atkins

Hi everyone! My name is Dawn, I am 35 and have lots to lose. I started Atkins on Sunday 11/1/09 with my husband. So far so good. I am dedicated to making this a success. I've tried numerous diets and failed numerous times. At this point in my life, its crucial that I lose the excess baggage. I have high BP (on meds) and PCOS which makes losing weight all that more difficult for me.

The first 2 days of induction were challenging. Shaking the sugar cravings was difficult but I made it through. I feel like I have more energy and have been functioning better during the day.

Well, off to do some work and I will definitely try and be supportive and post to others.

    Take care!
    Dawn

Re: New to board and Atkins

Hello Dawn, Welcome to ADBB. If you have not yet read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, you should get a copy and read it cover to cover. It will explain the entire process and give you guidance as you go through the weight loss phases. I started pretty close to where you are now. This WOE does work if you work it!

    HW (this time) 248
    GOAL ONE 228
    (take 2)
    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

          HI Dawn!

As you've been told before, the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is a tremendous help when you are starting and also after you've been on plan awhile. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges are starting for the month -- check them out and join a couple that interest you.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

Your husband will probably loose more quickly and with less effort that you, that is normal - it's something we've all had to deal with! If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
