Hello
Stumbled onto this site a week or so ago. I noticed many names and faces from a different site (lowcarb.ca). I haven't been there in a while, when I was there, I was listed under LCRobbie.
Anyway...I know just about everything about LC, especially Atkins. I used this WOE to lose over 100 pounds...but like so many before me I relapsed. I had a reconstructive ankle surgery and 3 subsequent injuries that took me out of the gym for months at a time. With that came frustration, extremely poor eating habits, resentment, and obviously...weight gain. I put back 50 or so of those pounds....extremely disappointed.
However, many of my career advancement are past me (also something that came before my health) so doing good there. Injuries are about gone or almost rehabbed completely. I am not pain free but pretty close. I joined LA Fitness (Switching gyms) and have been extremely motivated there. My goal is to get down to a fitness level to play basketball in the pickup leagues there (Spring). I can run a little in spurts, do a good amount of weight training and between 20-30 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week.
My biggest culprit/issue is my wife and son. While I love them more than anything, resistance is extremely difficult. My son is skinny and seems to be able to eat anything. My wife used to do Atkins with me (before his birth) and lost a good amount of weight too. Now, however, she eats junk, convenient food, and so on. She is back to the old ways before her success. She admittedly knows what to do...just can't do it, can't get there. It is frustrating for me because some times in the past, I would be a lazy eater like her and cave, go off plan. It irritates me a lot. While she isn't doing anything to me or forcing me to eat what she does, I sware it seems she is somewhat happy I deviate.... I know this is for me...but I think of lengthening my life with my son the most. It almost brings me to tears to think I would be gone at an early age when I have the knowledge of LC and a relatively healthy body to exercise (and until now, have ignored them).
So anyway....I started induction 11/1. I am down from 355 to 346 this morning. I already know it is mostly water weight. However, the drop on the scale is great and I will take it anyway I can get it. I am hoping to be in the 330's by Thanksgiving...then 310's by Christmas. Not to say 330 or 310 (could be 338 or 319). I feel empowered when I pass on candy and junk at work...
Last thing (sorry this is so long). For those successful people....how does caffeine affect you? I drink ZERO coffee..hate it. Instead I found Splenda sweetened 4C energy drinks with vitamins and amino acids and 170mg of caffeine. I also drink some diet soda (1 can per day usually). It never affected me before but wondered if it is something to consider dropping as well.
thanks and look forward to new success with you all.
