  • Starting Induction

    Hi Everyone!

    I am coming back to Atkins after using this back in 1997 with great success. Granted I had less weight to loose then- from where I need to go now. Point is, I know this works and why I have waited so long to come back I am not sure. I just know I need a support group. So, today is day one of the induction for me. I will keep everyone posted on my journey. I am very excited to see the weight fall off as it had done for me in the past. For me- Atkins is not a diet but a way of living. I have been carb sensitive my whole life- so this needs to be how I live my life, not just to drop the unwanted weight. I feel better when I do Atkins- my problem is my addiction to sugar is that of an alcoholic to alcohol. I can pass up the bread, pasta, and potatoes- my problem is the sugar- the candy and all the goodies!!!!!!! I will need the help of all of you. As soon as I have a craving, I will be making a post- but most importantly- I need to distract myself- and work through the craving.

    I will keep you posted- starting today at 190.2- with a end goal of 135!

    I am a sugar addict like you. I find when I have no sugar substitutes or the least bit of added sugar in anything it goes great, no cravings

        Welcome back to Atkins, Shooter!

        Your weight loss might not be as fast as it was 12 years ago because your body has changed but it will feel just as good as it did then!

        Just stick to the plan, drink lots of water and after 2 or 3 days, the cravings will be gone. This is the best way of life there is, so just hang in there!

          Welcome Shooter !! Visit often, ask questions, join challenges, and get involved if that is what helps. This IS a very helpful friendly board, and a great source of inspiration. Best wishes on this journey

                Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

                Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now, your body is different than anyone so it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support.

                I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

                Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
