  • Week 2 of induction and found this site!

Well to start off with I'm totaly floored at the before and after pictures on this site! Some of the transformations posted up there are so amazing!

Ok on to the introduction....well let's see...where to start...

I'm 5'7.5" (the .5 counts!) and just before starting induction I was at 205 lbs. I'm 29 about to break into the 30's and after stepping up on the scale and seing that I was up to a max weight that I deemed both unhealthy and non acceptable I decided to do something about it!

I had previously had the "old mind set" of fat is bad and atkins was the devil! However after watching my father shed over 45 pounds in 4 months and starting to get back in shape I decided I would at least READ the entire book and then pass judgement.

The book was eye opening and lead to my deciding to give it a try! The first fiew days of induction were hard as I'm addicted to icecream and cookies...I use to be able ot eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner didnt matter what time it was!!! However my gf totaly supported my decision and though she does not need to loose a single pound she really helped in counting every carb I ate and cleaning up the pantry / fridge of all things that would derail me!

I'm now almost done induction (sunday nov 8th = 14th day) and I was down to 197 last sunday after week 1! I only weigh myself 1 time a week as I know weight fluctiates not only daily but during the day so a week to week is more suited to what I need to see.

I may need to go into extended induction for an extra week as I miss read and was having 2 cups of spinach instead of the 1 allowed >.<

Other than that 8+ 8oz glasses of water a day, Taking a Mens multy vitamine that has no Iron, and taking fiber once a day untill things "go more smooth" so to say!

Look forward to posting before and after pics and getting allot of good info from this comunity

Welcome! I wouldn't think you need to do any more than the 14 days of induction if you only have 17 lb more to lose (from your ticker). Most of us make a few mistakes in the beginning, while getting to understand the rules. I think people here will tell you that it is better to move on to OWL rung 1 which is not very different, because you have a lot of steps to go through to establish a maintenance way of eating that works for you when you reach goal and you may be there pretty soon!

Did you read the 2002 edition of the book?

I bet that the extra cup of spinach didn't affect your Induction results!

Seriously, you don't need to extend your Induction. Move to OWL on day 15.

Re: Week 2 of induction and found this site!

I read the "new diet revolution" 2002 version. It was rather hard to find a copy and each place I went tried to sell me "the south beach diet" as being "the same thing" but I was set on trying atkins so I found it!

As for the 17 pounds...well I probably should shed down to 175 so add 5 more pounds to it but the lowest weight I ever was was 179lbs. My main problem is that I was always an athleet in the past and had allot of muscle on me ... not so much anymore so I want to hit a healthy weight but not be too skinny either.

South Beach is not the same thing - so glad to stuck to it. And glad you decided to read the book. So many people think they can wing it.
          Congratulations on doing so great.

Sounds like you're doing great so far....just a few reminders:

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
