  • New to ADBB - Intro

    Hello,

I am new to ADBB and it seems very overwhelming and yet comforting how many people are still doing Atkins.

What draws me to Atkins WOE is I have a ton of food allergies (Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Soy [including Legumes], and Strawberries). I am finally done telling myself I can eat this and pay for the consequences later.

I am ready for this weight loss journey as well as this new way of life I deserve.

      Thank you for the welcome.

I have also joined the Vegetable challenge... I always thought Atkins was Meat, Cheese, and Lettuce (well, that is how I have done it in the past). LOL

It will be great to get some variety and needed suggestions so maybe this change of life won't be so food boring.

It doesn't have to be boring at all! Induction lasts only 14 days, and in OWL you will eat more veggies and add back nuts, seeds, berries, etc.

Meat - cheese - and lettuce - YUP I say most people who come here think that way. But Atkins is a very varied diet with a lot of choice. Glad you joined the veggie challenge. I will see you there

Welcome to ADBB. Do take the time to read the book and learn the proper way to do this Way of Eating. Its a lot more than meat eggs and cheese, and those who do it right are the ones that make it to maintenance and their goal weights.

                Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges are starting for the month -- check them out and join a couple that interest you.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

Induction is anything but boring....I love the food and don't feel I'm deprived or that I am low on options. The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!

Re: New to ADBB - Intro

Thanks again for the all welcomes.

I have read all the Atkins books and have his cookbook as well.

I am a true believer this WOE can and will work. In the past attempt on Atkins I really did limit the selection of veggies (never had it put to me to eat at least 12 nc of veggies during Induciton) and the plan just became to boring. This time around and being involved in this group, I have already changed my mindset of this program and opened my head, heart and mouth to new veggies and recipes so, I know it won't get boring and I will be able to stay on this for a very, very, very long time.
