  • Looking For Friends and Supporters!!

    Hi Guys,

    I weigh about 152 and am looking to get down to around 110. Today's actually my first day of induction. I started 2 weeks ago, but got off. Now I'm back on and Im not giving up this time! I really want to get down to my goal weight. Ive struggled with my weight since high school and its time for me to make a change ans stick to it once and for all!

    Look forward to having some supporters, and potentiall someone in my weight range looking to lose as much as me!

      Well I had unintentionally been drinking flavored water not knowing that it had that sugar stuff like diet soda. So by the end of the week I had massive cravings for carbs..So I gave in....

            Welcome to the Atkins Board.

            Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now.
            It's best to kill the sugar addiction during induction - that way you aren't still holding on to bad old habits. If you want "flavored" water, float a thin slice of lemon or lime on top -- also cucumber tastes good floating in water....and these cause no cravings and only count a small amount toward your net carb total for the day.

            A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

            I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase.


            Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list

              Welcome back!

              I learned that lesson a few years ago myself. I had a friend that did this way of eating and drank diet Mt Dew the entire time and still lost weight. It never bothered her in the least that she said and I asked!

              So...I'm thinking, I L-O-V-E me some diet coke so I'm going to drink caffeine free diet coke and water while I do this way of eating. Needless to say, it was a disaster. I did do the way of eating as I was suppose to but it was so hard, my appetite never curbed and I didn't lose weight. I was so disgusted that I ended up caving and its took me a long time to come back. Drinking water and only water and lots of it equals success for me!

                You've come to the right place for support and encouragement! The people here are wonderful and there is tons of information all over the site.

                Be sure to check out the recipe forum because there are so many great dishes you can eat on Atkins that you won't find on any other diet.

                  I am trying to lose a bit more weight then you, but I just started about a week ago. Once you get past the first few days, the sugar cravings go weight down. I did have a bad day yesterday when I was craving my daughter's Halloween candy. I just grabbed my water bottle and went into the other room. I haven't had any since. No treating except in my dreams, when I wake up freaked out that I messed up my diet
