I used to suspend the diet on saturdays and i lose 11 lbs in 2-3 months, that was nice for me, but after 3 months off the diet i have returned to 180.

      Re: hello Everybody

Welcome back to Atkins and to the ADBB, Manuel!

It's best not to do Atkins part-time. For it to be the most help to you, you need to adopt it as a way of life and stay with it all the time. And it's not really that hard because of the variety of rich and filling foods that are allowed. Be sure to check out the recipe forums and Linda's Low Carb website for ideas to keep you from getting bored if you're only eating plain eggs and cheese all the time. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what's allowed on the plan.

Keep us posted on your progress!

        Welcome Manuel
Remember as you get older what you get away with as younger may not work for you anymore. Eat your healthy food and think about how you can find something that you can live with for a long time and that will keep you around your ideal weight.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

The 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book is the edition we follow on this site. If you have been following Atkins Monday through Friday and eating & drinking whatever on the weekends I'm sorry to say you haven't been following Atkins .... not the way it was written, and is probably why you returned to your higher weight. Atkins isn't a diet so you don't go on and off of it -- it's a lifestyle change - something you do 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year - from now on.

Make sure you are eating enough vegetables and fats....Atkins is a high fat, moderate protein eating plan -- most of your net carbs should be coming from vegetables everyday. If you are unsure of what your are eating and the amounts try using one of the free programs like www.fitday.com to track your net carbs, amounts of each food and calories.

Welcome Manuel. Everyone has given you good advice. And the book is invaluable. Just for info, if it makes it easier for you, the book is available in Spanish too! Your English is good, but it might be easier if you don't have to translate everything you read Good luck on your journey.

              Re: hello Everybody

              hi all!

No, i havent read the book. I just know the basic facts that work on me.
I dont want to be frivolous, but i think the way im making the diet is enough for me.
I can understand that people may have wealth problems or just difficulties in daily life, and im absolutely respectful and concerned about that, mine is just aesthetic.
One of the basic facts i know about the diet is that you must be on that for the rest of your days , but im happy with the temporary results doing it part-time.

Anyway, if you consider there is something i must know about the book, just let me know, please. Thank you very much for your kindness and suggestions

              Hasta luego!!!

                Re: hello Everybody

Well most people I talk to know the word Atkins and associate it with meat and cheese. The book we use here Atkins New Diet Revolution from 2002 stressed eating low glycemic vegetables from the first day and continue to eat a lot of vegetables. It stresses exercise and moderation.
You have to do what works for you for sure but diets should be healthy and the results should be sustainable.
Hope things work out for you. Feel free to ask questions on the forum. We will give you answers by the book for sure
