  • One more new person

Hi, my name is Niki and I just finished the book and look forward to starting Atkins. I went shopping today and picked up the food I needed. I am surprised at what you can eat. That will be a change for me. I hope I do as well as the people here. I look at the pictures and I hope that will be me soon. I promised myself I will be honest with what I eat and keep a food journal and start some kind of excersize . I look forward to getting to know the board and people here. Now I am off to read more of the board for my big start tomorrow.

Hi Niki, and welcome to ADBB! Have you read the 2002 DANR book yet? It is a great source of motivation and will be a huge help in guiding you.

        Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. Make out a few days worth of meals so you have everything in the house and have no excuses of eating something you shouldn't (sugar, starch, etc). A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

Great news that you have already read the 2002 DANDR - you've put yourself ahead of many because you alreaady have the knowledge you'll need and have the source at hand to check back to.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
