  • Privyet! Hallo.

Hallo there. My name is Anna Stepanovna Ivanov.

I was born in a town in Russia called Vladimir (part of the Golden Ring around Moscow). My family moved to the United States when I was 4 years old.

Now I am 20. I'm in my 3rd year of college. I've been overweight since I was about 10 years old. Most of my family is overweight. It's your typical story. My parents are overweight. My grandmother is your typical short, plump Russian babushka.

I'm tired of feeling fat. Feeling tired. Being out of shape. Yesterday, I ate an entire bag of butterfinger crisps. And all it made me feel was disgusting and sad. I'm ready to start feeling energetic and healthy. I've realized that 90% of how heavy and weighed down I feel is because of the crazy spikes in my blood sugar levels, and only a small fraction is actually due to my size.

I've already eaten my 3 square meals for today, but I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow with a big, yummy omelette and a healthy new attitude!

    -Anna

    Re: Privyet! Hallo.

Zdrasvitye. Welcome to ADBB Anna! You come from a beautiful town! Our family spent 8 years in Moscow and loved visiting Vladimir and Sergeyev Posad and all of the beautiful ring towns.

My son is your age and year in college, he finds Atkins hard at times but you cannot argue with the results. I think that once you break your dependence on those foods you feel a million times better. Read the DANDR book cover to cover as it will save you heartache and mistakes. Drink lots of plain water, and eat your veggies. Post often and read as much as you can on the board to stay motivated. Ask Questions. Wishing you much success, padrushka (sp).

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

        Re: Privyet! Hallo.

Bolshoe spasibo, Jill! Vladimir is gorgeous, but unfortunately I haven't been there since the beginning of the new millennium. I have read DANDR already, and I'm so ready! I'm enjoying my last Diet Dr. Pepper for a long time right now, because I know it will be nothing but water starting tomorrow!

        Thanks for the greeting, Julie!

          Re: Privyet! Hallo.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

You say you've already read the 2002 DANDR book -
that will help you so much since you already know what to do! Refer to the book and this board when you need help!

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
