  • And I'm off....

Well I found out this morning (thanks Liv) that what I have been doing isn't really adkins...been consuming the "adkins" shakes and bars...not getting enough fat or protien either...and found out my carb free / sugar free products are a lie!!!!
So I am starting my 14 day induction over again...today.
    Just in time for Thanksgiving
I am 40 year old mother of 2, 15 boy / 11 girl, work in the thoroughbred industry here in Lexington or LexVegas as we like to call it LOL.
Honestly one of the hardest parts of this whole Adkins WOE, is giving up my wine...I really enjoy my wine in the evening~ prob part of the reason I gained 15 lbs in the last 2 years
I am not an alcoholic (at least I dont' think I am) but I have to say it's not been easy giving it up.
    Any advice is welcome

    Advice ... read the book!

And ... giving up wine for a period of time ... well, you can learn to enjoy something else in the evening ... honest.

If the wine is part of a relaxing routine, then just have some herbal tea ... or have the sparkling water on it's own.

    Here's a quote to mull over ...

"Your life will never change until you change your choices."

        Yes.

Just remember to count the carbs in the lemon ... unless you're just floating it in the glass!

        And herbal tea has carbs.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

To bad you didn't read the book to begin with - it would have saved you from whatever time you've been doing induction the wrong way. Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now.

A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. You will be able to add wine back on Rung 5 of OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) but you won't be drinking it during induction....like Atkinsgal said, try some herbal tea, lemon, lime or cucumber slices floating in a glass of sparkling water. Lemon & Lime are on the Special Category Food and is limited so be careful.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. If you can't find one locally check www.fitday.com - I bought a hardcopy of the book 2 weeks ago (listed as "used" but hadn't been opened) and paid $1.05 including shipping and handling.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
