  • 22nd Day on Atkins-Extended Induction

    Hi All,

I've lost a total of 13 lbs in 22 days. Started fast but no loss for the last 3 days. I imagine it's due to impending time of the month.

I am totally committed to go 6 weeks on Induction. Although I dreamt last night that I was walking on a sidewalk made of Strawberry Ice Cream Sundae and scarfed it down by the fistfulls as I mosied along.

    I work out at least 360 minutes a week (6 days-1 hour a day).

I'm training for the Seattle to Portland bike ride next year and refuse to bike 2 days/200 miles with 30+ extra pounds...it's gonna be hard enough as it is.

Thanks for all the postings.....they inspire me no end!

    Goal # 1 - 180 lbs 1lb away
    Goal # 2 170lbs
Goal # 3 164 Officially no longer overweight
    Goal # 5 160
    Goal # 6 150
    Goal # 7 140-145

    Why?

Don't you think that you would benefit from OWL?

How do you think an extra 5 net carbs worth of vegetables isn't going to help you?

I imagine extra vegetable can't hurt, but after reading the book and carefully considering my goals....I find that another 3 weeks on Induction would do me no harm. I eventually will go on OWL but for now, my plan includes 3 more weeks on Induction.

        Welcome to the board --
Congratulations of your weight loss this far. Your body will slow down weight loss after the first couple of weeks, this is normal and happens to everyone. You only have 41 pounds left to loose so staying in Induction too long will make it harder for you to have the time to move slowly through the rungs. Many people, including myself, found that staying in Induction when you don't have over 100 pounds to loose isn't beneficial, it actually doesn't help at all. Moving to Rung 1 of OWL and adding an additional 5 net carbs of vegetables daily will keep you loosing, and since you have time, you'll be able to find as many vegetables that you can eat and continue to loose, then move to Rung 2 and add 5 additional net carbs of Dairy. Moving slowly through the rungs is the way the plan was written.

Good luck to you. If you haven't already check the recipe sites for meal ideas that will keep you from eating the same things over and over.

That may not be the best plan though.

Many people who overstay their welcome on Induction are disappointed.

Re: 22nd Day on Atkins-Extended Induction

Welcome!!! I am doing extended Induction adding in foods from the different rungs but trying to keep my carbs hovering around 20.

I'm glad you are here, there is lots of support here.

Are you tired doing Induction and working out? I found that Induction it was hard for me to workout. I was very weak and before I begin working out I'll have to add in some veggie carbs but I'm not ready for that now. Maybe its different for you because you were already in shape before beginning and I was not. I was just curious.

Today is day 32 for me and its the first day I've felt REALLY good and energized. Finally!!!

                Jenileigh,

How many net vegetable carbs are you getting now?

Re: 22nd Day on Atkins-Extended Induction

I had been in exercising regularly for over a year before I started Atkins so I was already in pretty good shape just not losing weight. I figured it was due to my high carb diet and I was right. Although I did increase my cardio a little bit I have not had trouble with fatigue. In fact, I'm just starting to get burst of energy that are almost uncomfortable because I'm at work all day. Good luck to you and thanks for the welcome.

That is good to know. I really think most people can exercise hard on low carb.
