  • Observations after seven days

Some random observations from the first week:

    1) I feel fuller/satiated longer so I don't eat as much; I don't have half the appetite that I used to have when I had a diet heavy with carbs
    2) I am constantly thirsty
    3) I thought I would constantly crave bread, pasta, bagles, etc. I don't miss them....much. The real challenge is going to a restaurant with a group of non-Atkins friends while hungry and staring at the bread basket
    4) It is much easier to stick to this way of life when I am seeing daily results on the scale; not seeing results leads to the "ah, what's the point" attitude

Thank you to all of you; this will be one group that I turn to again and again.

Yes those are good observations. I think I experienced similar things.
So what are you going to do when that scale stalls a bit. As we all know it will. That will be a bit of a challenge. It is for all of us.

How much water are you drinking?

Are you getting 1/2 your current weight in ounces?

Hey Boca, pop over to the Induction thread in Atkins Phases. I posted something there to show myself (as well as others) that there is far better reasons to do this than just the scale. So when the scale isn't working for you there is still a lot to be said for this way of eating (WOE)

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

You mean like this morning? There will be a few moments of disappointment, but I won't let it deter me. The body can be...difficult.

It sure can. Weight fluctuations are a normal thing.
To me it helps to know that they happen and rely on some of the other benefits of eating healthy like Jill wrote in that post in induction.
So much of what you are saying indicate that eating low carb is a chore. And yes maybe it is in the beginning but one of the things that may happen is that it actually becomes quite easy to get up and not grab something starchy and sugary. Actually to me at this point eating something starchy and sugary just sounds so wrong. Hand me that ribeye.
