        Re: Hello!!

The diet is about food not measuring stuff (except carbs)
So plan to eat foods. I fry eggs in bacon fat, eat bacon or avocado for breakfast. Use mayo or olive oils for salads and add oil or butter to meat unless I eat fatty meats (which I often do )

            Re: Hello!!

            Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about staring. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

BTW - Dr. Atkins was a cardiologist - you don't think he'd steer us wrong with the fats/protein/carbs do you? My heart health is actually better since I've been following Atkins than it was before. I use butter, bacon grease, avocado, olive oil, all good fats. Things like oleo and trans fats are what cause heart health issues.

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. Good luck to you!

You're saying I am not healthy?
Perhaps read the book for more info about fat

Nothing wrong with olive oil if that is what you prefer

612, it helps to put your foods into fitday.com each day to make sure you are getting enough calories (minimum 1500) and proper ratios of fat to carbs to protein. It should be roughly 5% carbs, 30% protein and 65% fat during Induction.

canola oil is not heart healthy xD

i know its got that little heart check on it but its a lie. canola oil and margarine actually do harm and help cause heart disease they are rancid GMO vegetable oils

theres alot of crap people sell us now a days that lie and say its healthy

soy is very toxic no amount of soy is safe to eat unless its fermented but only japan ferments there soy

good oils are olive oil , grape seed oil , cold pressed unrefined is the best to get but its hard to find
