I am new on here so please be gentle. I have done the Atkins diet a few times & always lose 14lbs very easily within a few weeks but always go back to my old ways & gain it all back again within 6 weeks but am gonna try this time to lose the full 3 stone I need to lose. Anyone else been there with a similar problem? Hello to everyone x

Perhaps this time you should do the diet correctly and after 2 weeks of induction move on to OWL and quit using Atkins as a quick fix weight loss.

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you are ready to re-starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables - variety will make it much easier to stay on plan. Good luck to you!

oooh Meltin that was harsh for my first response, but I think I understand what you are saying, I have done the 'diet' correctly in the past, that is how I lost so much weight, 10lbs or 9 in the first week & 3lbs-4 each further week. I have not used it as a quick fix.
My husband works in England & I started this for the 1st time last year while he was away, I read the book cover to cover until I understood the concept completely. The problem I have is that when my husband comes home he can be here for between a week & a month at a time & out comes the wine & the fabulous French food & restaurants, my resistance is poor! This is why this time I have logged onto here for ideas & motivation before he returns on the 17th December to lead me down the temptation path.
Thank you imagood1 & meltin for your interest & response perhaps however you got me wrong. I am very vocal in favour of Atkins. it is a diet imagood1, it is a set way of eating, but thats not a bad thing. I advertise the fact to my friends & neighbours that one would eat far less fat on a daily basis with Atkins, (contradicting the media reports of fatty fried food & mega amounts of butter & cream)than on an ordinary day to day diet of junk food, thats without even touching the sugar issue.
I have 42lbs (56 if possible) to lose so I dont think I am ready yet to start owl. I re-started 9 days ago & have stuck faithfully to the plan including lots of water, about 2 litres (which I drink normally) & have lost 11 lbs, I have not exercised at all due to a major op on my spine in my neck 6 months ago so I am going right somewhere.
I dont mind constructive criticism but didnt expect it so soon. I am loving the inspiring postings & pictures & ideas, thank you. A x

          >>I have done the 'diet' correctly in the past>>

Well ... you really haven't ... since keeping the weight off is the last phase ... the one that's the longest and the hardest!

          >>about 2 litres>>

That's only the minimum you should be drinking ... more is better!
