Hello everyone!
I am Stephanie, and I am new here as a registered member, although Atkins is something I am familiar with as I did it before several years ago. Of course, if I'd done it CORRECTLY, I wouldn't be here doing it again, right?
This time, I bought the book and actually read it...what a world of difference it makes! I also look forward to sharing in all the knowledge here.
I just moved to OWL rung 1 this week after losing 18 pounds in an extended Induction phase, and I am excited to start adding more vegetable variety to my diet - this week is brussels sprouts!
So far, my only real difficulty has been related to my water consumption - and that seems like a common theme, from the reading I've done so far here on the board. I aim for at least eighty ounces per day, and sometimes get more, but... I'm an air traffic controller, and unfortunately, I can't just get up for a "potty break" whenever I need to during my shift - sometimes I am stuck working on a position for two hours or more. We get a break when it's our turn, and that's about it! My tendency is to load up on the water before and after work, and drink comparatively little during my eight-hour shift at work. My consumption is much more consistent during my days off! I can't see an easy way around this. I DO bring meals and snacks to work and make sure to get my veggies in every day, so I am getting some water during my shift that way...
Also, my schedule is not consistent from day to day (backwards rotating shifts), but I have made a LOT of effort towards meal planning and packing leftovers, so that's not as difficult as it seems...I always bring plenty of legal food with me, and fortunately we have several refrigerators and a cafeteria!
Anyhow, I look forward to participating with all of you on the board! Thanks for reading
Stephanie
