  • I dont want to be a fat 50 year old!

    I turn 50 years old on May 23 and I am determined to look better at 50 than I did at 30 or 40 and I will.

    Wish me luck.

    Hey there,

    Welcome, all journeys start with the first step and you have just taken it!!
    Congratz on your decision and all the best with your travels to your goal.

    We are all here for you, so shout for help when you need it.

    Just remember, minimum 64oz pure water a day, multi-vitamin (no iron) and EXERCISE!
    The rest is all possible if you stick to the basics.....Good Luck!

      Welcome. I turn 49 this year. Its never too late to start this Way of Eating (WOE). Atkins will deliver, if you do.

        I turned 50 in June and I had the same 'thought' last February - I certainly didn't lose alot by my birthday, but I felt 100% better about myself and my health. It is the perfect decision - you will be amazed. Take time out to measure yourself, now. There will be times when these numbers will be more important than the scale.

                  Welcome to the Atkins Board.

                  I just turned 52 -- feeling much better than I did this time last year! Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

                  Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables.
