    Re: this is it

    Hi there,

Welcome to ADBB, this is one time in life when I can truly say that I know how you feel.
I think most of the people here would say the same, suffice to say you are in good company.

I have been "doin the Atkins" for 11 days and the change in my life has been astounding.
I have a lot to loose but one has to start somewhere, I have lost 10lbs and 4" in 11 days, so if you put your mind to it you will WIN!!!

The biggest change I have seen so far in the Induction phase has been the energy I have compared to two weeks ago.
The cool "side effect" is that I am losing weight and feeling great!

    Have you got the book?
It's important you get the book (2002 edition) and read it so you understand the process and why things happen the way they do.

Drink a minimum of 64oz of pure water, take a non iron multivitamin and exercise regularly!

Don't loose heart my friend, we are all in the same place until we take the decision to start the journey to a better life, you have just taken the first step and I commend you for that

Be strong and stick to the rules, you will be a winner!!

        Hello and welcome!

The comment above jumped out at me, since there is no diet on earth that can combat emotional binge eating. Life will always have the potential to get crazy - and you have both a choice and complete power over how you respond to craziness. Have you considered how you will respond to "life craziness" when it happens again?

        Two bits of advice:

        1) Write down a list of thing you can do other than binge eat in the event of "life craziness". Make a copy of the list - post one on the fridge and keep one in your purse.

        2) Plan your meals for each week and commit yourself to eating breakfast *daily*. With minimal prep each evening, you can have everything you need to quickly throw together a nice omelette, a sausage and veggie scramble, muffin-size quiches you can eat on the go, etc.

Welcome to you and congrats making the decision to do Atkins. You have taken a large step and made a commitment to look at each day as a step. I'm with you on this, call if you need help the support here is fantastic.
I keep myself motivated by looking at the success stories, and before and afters. Most of my questions have been answered by the forums here and by all means get the book. I keep mine with me all the time.
Take your measurements so you can see the progress you make, it does not always show up on the scale. Stay with it, and you will see success.

                  Re: this is it

                  Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables.
