  • Hi

Well, here I am. Day 1. Let's hope it keeps going I've done Atkins before and it works great when you're on it. I'm looking forward to having support from a group like this. I've never dieted with anyone before and I hope it helps. Just read a post about self-sabotaging and it was excellent. So -- I promise for this first week to log on before I log off Atkins. If I'm stressed, pissed-off, bummed out, I'll go here first. Read, post, read. Try to feel better and get in a better place before I reach for the sugar stuff

    Welcome!

Get rid of the "sugar stuff" ... then if you reach for it, it won't be there!

      Re: Hi

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" or a way to loose "a few pounds"...it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/

      Good luck to you!

        Re: Hi

Thanks for the advice. I've cleared out the pantry and fridge of any tempting left overs. And I agree completely that it's got to be a lifestyle choice for life. Eating the sugar/carbs is horrible for your health in so many ways. I need to see this as a the way to eat for a lifetime. I'll start journaling too.

              Susan,
This is a great place to come and get encouraged. We all need that from time to time especially when we mess up. My best piece of advice is to not give up! I LOVE it here, I am always reminded why I am doing what I am doing.

Great job on your weight loss!

Thanks Jill. I see on your tag that you're not weighing in til Dec. 7th. How does that work for you? I guess it would be good not to be disappointed if I don't lose on a certain day...

                      Re: Hi

                      Welcome Susan,

When you start Atkins, a lot of people are anxious too see how much they are losing and tend to weigh often.. AFter following the Atkins WOE for a while and after realizing it is not a diet but a way of lifetime eating, a lot of people tend to weigh less often, concentrating less on daily weight loss, and more about healthy eating and healthy/exercise/living.

Also you will see that your weight can fluctuate many pounds up and down from day to day. If you see these ups and downs, especially the ups, it can be discouraging.

Again, welcome to the ADBB, we are here to help in any way.
