  • My Intro--Yes, Im Just As Hyper In Person As I sound On Here...

Hello Everyone! Just stopping by for a quick introduction. I'm a 24yr old female, and the mother of two brand-spanking-new-darling babies! In the last four months I have lost thirty pounds of the 60 I gained during pregnancy, but the last thirty (35?) are being stubborn. I tried "Atkins" once about six years ago, and its the only plan I have ever seen results on, so I decided to give it a go and see what happens with this baby weight ! I'm officially starting tomorrow, so very excited. Also , my husband is a Former Marine (OORAH!!) now serving in the U.S. Army, and he is in excellent shape...so I started going to the gym with him two days ago...Its great motivation , but very hard work. Overall I feel very optimistic! If anyone needs support , or someone to motivate them, etc, I'm generally very positive and would love to make friends! The best of luck to everyone!

    W.

Welcome W. ... congratulations on your two babies, and having a wonderful supportive husband (Marine that switched to Army !?!?! )

Just a reminder.... As wonderful as this WOL is, if you are breast feeding those two wonderful babies, you should wait until you are no longer breast feeding before starting.

Don't forget to read the book if you haven't already. Dr. Atkins talks about it there.

Welcome! I had a baby in early September! You sound a lot like me in that I lost 30 pounds with the baby weight, but have that stubborn 30-ish to go!

        We'll do it, though!

          Welcome!

If you're still breastfeeding, you shouldn't do ANY of the weight loss phases of Atkins ... you can do maintenance though.

Wow, thanks for all of the prompt responses! Nope, not breastfeeding! At the risk of TMI, my milk never came in .

Does anyone know what happens to your metabolism after you have a child? If it changes at all ? It seems like it was so much easier to drop a few pounds before I had my daughters.

Kntrylady- Yep, Marine that switched to Army. 4yr's 2months in the Marine Corp before he reenlisted with the Army...Its just a much better place for families. Although, as an 18 yr old single male, the USMC was the perfect place. He will ALWAYS be a Marine at heart ,but with three dependents ....the Army had more to offer (i.e. Nicer bases , More jobs, and you advance much quicker ).

Lots of things have changed about your body since you've had a child.

I'm sure you know that Atkins isn't a quick fix.

                  Welcome --

A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/

Your metabolism changes many times during your life...the older you get the harder the weight is to get off...also you've just had twins, so your body may take longer to shed the last of your weight....have patience - it will happen if you follow the plan the way it's written.

Congratulations on your new babies!! Yes, I can honestly say that after each of my 5 children my metabolism is a bit messed up but I have always attributed part of that with nursing.

That's so sweet that you can work out with your husband.
                    Enjoy that time together!

Hey W. It sounds like your husband is not only supportive, but pretty smart too ! Most of the Marines I've known in my life would rather die than switch. Which is why his story amazed me so. The fact that he switched and for the sound reasoning you wrote speaks volumes for the man

Thanks BlueBerryLady,Imagood1,farmwife,and kntrylady! Its nice just seeing how much a few kind lines can motivate someone, and reading your nice responses just did that for me ! Usually I have 2-3 cups of coffee first thing in the morning with approx 8-12 sugar packets (pure sugar) per cup. I started induction today and so far ...Im not hungry AT ALL . But I have a killer headache and lots of nausea, so I guess its withdrawal. anyway , i just wanted to say thank you for being so kind, when you dont even know me. It really motivates me and makes it so much easier ...so thanks again!

Kntrylady- Yep, he is a fourth generation Marine, and they all stayed in for twenty...he was blown out of a tower during his 4th tour in Iraq and it damaged his hearing , the Army was willing to work with that . Each branch is wonderful and has its own purpose, but when it comes to the well-being of family...I like my Marine...Just being my Soldier ! ( I cant find the smiley's, but if I could Id insert a big one. )....

It's best to cut down on caffeine slowly ... if possible. It will help with the "withdrawals".

Well can you drink it? What kind of effect does coffee have on you. On some people it makes bloodsugar go up - it makes some people absorb more carbs and it makes some people (like me) hungry and eat more. Others will have not effect from it. So this is one of those things that are quite individual. You may want to think about coffee.
Pickles you can have - make sure they are sugar free.
