  • Hello from BC :)

    Hi everyone!

My name is Xena and I live in BC Canada with my wife and many furkids. This is my second time giving Atkins a go, so hopefully I can reach my goal and stick it this time around.

I don't post weights as I do suffer from several eating disorders and focusing on numbers drives me crazy, but I can tell you that at my absolute heaviest I was 258 lbs. I am nowhere near that now, having only twenty or so lbs to go to my goal.

As you can guess by my forum name, dance plays a huge part in my life (always has, since the age of three). I was a professional dancer in my twenties, then because of various reasons I had to quit and the pounds came flying on (to the tune of the above number in less than two years).

It took me alot of years to lose that weight, and the first time I was on Atkins I managed to get to my goal only to begin to think I knew better than the diet outlines and just lost control again, gaining fifty lbs back. I have now lost about thirty of those, and am trying to knock off the last twenty or so...again.

I think the reason I have been having the hardest time of late is that I feel so isolated with no support and on other weight loss forums they don't consider twenty lbs to be much of anything, so they ignore me...making me eat more and you guessed it...gain.

So I'm looking for buddies and friendship and comeradery and support. If you be my cheerleader I'll be yours! Guaranteed.

Chat with you later and nice meeting all of you,

    Xena

    Re: Hello from BC

Hi Xena, well I for one believe it can be just as hard to lose 20 as 100 so welcome to ADBB. I think you will find that this forum is supportive no matter how much or little you have to lose.

    HW 298
    HW (this time) 248
    GOAL ONE 228
    (take 2)
    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins Xena --

Regardless of what you did before, or what anyone you read about is doing now, your body is different so it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. There are several new challenges starting that involve exercise and some that are non-exercise challenges - check them to see if there is anything you might be interested in. It's a great way to become committed to something and meet people.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz minimum is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

Starting a journal is another great way to meet people and to get your thoughts and feelings out - you'll be surprised how much encouragement you'll get while journaling!

Check this page for answers to a lot of your questions: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. Make sure you are eating enough vegetables – Atkins isn’t just meat and cheese – vegetables are a huge part of your daily menu and is where most of your carbs should be coming from.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over and becomming bored. Since you don't have much to loose don't stay on induction more than 2 weeks, you'll need time to add foods back into your daily meals before you get to your goal.

        Re: Hello from BC

Maybe harder. But it is also good to make sure we have reasonable expectations to what it is possible for our bodies to do. At my age for instance my goal is not quite as low as some that are young. I understand their need to be very slim but I am comfortable with my need to just be healthy and strong.
Anyways welcome from BC. Glad to have you here
