Welcome to ADBB and to Atkins!
I, too, did the workout hard and traditional low fat calorie-controlled diet thing. While I did get healthier in terms of physical strength, I didn't lose weight and inches, I actually GAINED in both (muscles under the fat!) and like you I was miserably starving all the time.
I switched to Atkins last fall and lost 15 pounds - and a WHOLE LOT of inches - in about three months. On a shorty like me (5'2") that's a lot of change! And the best part is that I was never starving, didn't obsess over when I got to eat next... it's great.
I got preganant last winter, had a lovely baby girl three months ago, and now I'm back restarting the plan so I can get back to where I was, and beyond.

Welcome to the Atkins Board.
Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" or a way to loose "a few pounds"...it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/
