  • My 2nd crack at it

    Hi all. This is my second time on Atkins. I was 270Lb and dropped down to 210 in 4 mo. I dropped another 30Lb after that held that level for 2 years .
    Then 4 life changing things happen to me within 1 month.
    My girlfriend at the time told me she was pregnant,
    I got a job promotion that keeps me on the road,
    I bout a house,
    and I got married.
    So I started to drink heavy. Now 5 years after my low of 180 i am now up to 292. I know this diet works for me. I am confident ill reach my target and stay there this time.

      Startdate: November 18, 2007. Female 5'2"

      Push-ups: 450/800
      Abs: 850/1900
      Squats: 650/1200
      Lunges: 500/1000
      Strength: 490/1200
      Running: 50/100 km

        Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

        Regardless of what you did before, or what you read other people are doing, your body is different than anyone so it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support.

        I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Drink a minimum og 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin – these are mandatory when following Atkins.

Make sure you are eating enough vegetables – Atkins isn’t just meat and cheese – vegetables are a huge part of your daily menu and is where most of your carbs should be coming from - and alcohol is not allowed until Rung 5 of OWL (ongoing weightloss). Hope you are able to stick with it and loose your weight - you're worth it.

          Yes I have stop drinking. I believe most of my weight gain was from the carbs in beer. I would drink 6 to 12 beers a night @ 14.5 carb each (total 87-174) on top of a Grande burrito and nachos. From what i have read my body burns the alcohol first then start burning carbs then starts burning fat.

          Wow this is my 5th day and i have lost 13 LB.

            Yep - your body got rid of everything EXCEPT the fat when you continued to drink daily....been there, did that - made it through the fog to the other side!

            Congrats on the 13 pounds. Keep up the great work!
