Charlotte we are here for you.
Maybe start a post in journals. It is a good place to pick up some friends. If you have questions posting in the introduction forum is also great.

Ditto reading the book - I got mine at a used book store, and it's gotten MUCH more used since I bought it!

        Good luck!

Check boot sales or thrift stores for a copy of the book -- make sure you are looking at the 2002 Edition of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. Also you can look at www.half.com or www.amazon.com to find an inexpensive copy of the book. The threads above are good tools, but the book gives much more indepth information on the plan and answers many questions the threads just don't answer.

Don't eat the same thing over and over - variety is key to making this lifestyle change stick for you. There are many recipe sites we enjoy menu ideas from :

          http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s)
(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (induction recipes)

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/.

Post often, ask questions and follow the plan 100% during induction -- then move to OWL (ongoing weight loss) and start adding foods back to your daily menus as they are listed.

          Good luck to you
          Carole

            Re: hello im a newbie

unsalted butter and eggs are always a good choice there very low in carbs a large chicken egg is only 0.6 net carbs

% of food you could aim for is 65% fat , 30% protein , 5% carbs and dont worry if your fat % gos higher than 65% its just mainly the 30% protein and 5% carbs that prob shouldnt go higher but dont worry to much about the food % its mainly the 20 net carb a day limmit that needs to be followed 100%
            www.fitday.com

remember to drink lots of water and extra extra during large amounts of fat loss to help flush all the toxins that were stored in your body fat out of your body

dont eat any aspartame or soy

dont eat any illegal foods at all cause not all carbohydrates are the same

make sure most of your 20 a day net carbs come from the acceptable vegetables list and if possible spread your 20 net carb a day limmit through out the day for example dont eat 15+ net carbs at lunch one sitting

Who are you talking to, greenleptir?

                          It's almost 4 a.m. here, so I'm probably just a bit "slow".
