  • Not overweight but amazed with results anyhow!

I have been on my weight loss journey for about a year now. I had ballooned from a size 0 to a size 8 in about six months of bad eating habits. With starvation diets I mananged to lose around 20lbs but hit a plateau around 6 months ago and couldn't lose another ounce. I grew tired of starving myself, consuming around 600 - 1000 calories a day and decided that the Atkins diet might be a healthier solution. I figured I'd give it a try. I am on day four of introduction and have already lost 5lbs! Amazing! I have been eating nearly 2000 calories a day and the freedom of knowing I can eat when I am hungry is so liberating! I feel terrific! I hope to make it to my goal weight by the end of the year. Only 10lbs to go!

By the way, I am 5'0.

You should plan on moving to OWL now.

        Rake,
Your weight is perfect for your height. I am also 5'0" and I have 115 - 110 as my goal. The atkins way of eating is good for you, but if your body resists losing more weight it may be just because you are at your new healthy weight Congratulations on losing so much already! The Atkins maintenance will help keep you there.

          >>That isn't what the book says... If I get to my goal weight before the two weeks is up that is what I plan to do.>>

Nowhere in DANDR (2002) does Dr. Atkins say to say on Induction until you get to your goal weight.

I'm only staying on introduction for the two weeks recommended. I didn't say I was staying on in for as long as necessary to lose all the weight. I will more than likely move into OWL next week if I lose any more weight. I don't want to lose it too fast.

My body has not resisted losing the weight. Prior to gaining the weight I was a healthy 105lbs. That is why this is my goal. If my body wants more weight so be it. Being healthy is what is most important to me.

Good for you Rake. Sounds like you've got a great attitude about the whole thing.
