  • Afraid of failure

So tomorrow I start my low carb lifestyle. I have tried so many other diets in the past and have failed ... dramatically. This journey for me is much more than reaching a weight loss goal. I am hoping that I discover the source of my eating addiction. Like a smoker, i need my timely fix for fear I will go through some type of withddrawl. If I can get over the addiction, I can beat this. Hopefully, this new lifestyle will teach me discipline.

This year my mother has been rushed to the hospital three times due to complications with diabetes and high blood pressure. Now I get phone calls from her urging me to do something because she does not want me to end up like her. For some people, that would be enough to launch them into a full weight loss program. The stress of her sickness had the opposite effect on me I guess ...

So again I say tomorrow. Tomorrow I start a new life. Praying that tomorrow turns into a week .. a month ... a lifetime ...

    Re: Afraid of failure

    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. The Atkins plan works if you work it the way it's written. Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) locally check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com. Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

A few more tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/

To make sure you don’t become bored by eating the same thing over and over look at these wonderful recipe sites – we have such great choices for menu ideas, eat a variety of things:

      Hi Mytime2010

This is the right place to be doing Atkins...it's a supportive and informative community. I do think you need to personally commit yourself to the lifestyle change though, you have to do it for yourself. Look at it as disease prevention, weight loss is an awesome side efrect

      Good Luck!

        Welcome!

ADBB is a really nice and knowledgeable community - you're in the right place.

Try starting a journal chat here; I find it helps. It's far easier than you'd think, once you get the hang of it!

        Good luck!
