Am new to this, just started yesterday and am still working through things. My husband and I are doing this together...after seeing the doctor and both coming to terms that this is the biggest that either of us has been in our lives...it is time to make change. So!...will be reading and hoping that we can reach our goals.

Re: Hello....
Welcome to the Atkins Board.
Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) locally check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com. (Mine was under $5.00 including ship/handling - look for a "used" copy - most of them are brand new!) Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.
A few more tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added) many of us drink half our weight -- personally, the more I drink the more I loose, exercise - (start today!), and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot. Also, start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/
To make sure you don’t become bored by eating the same thing over and over look at these wonderful recipe sites – we have such great choices for menu ideas, eat a variety of things - just make sure the ingredients are induction friendly until you start moving up the Rungs of OWL (ongoing weight loss):

Re: Hello....
Welcome! I think it's great that you two are doing this together, I think it will make it easier on the both of you to do it this way! Good luck!male/35/295/250/175? Weight loss is no longer my primary goal. Getting to the point where I no longer feel like h-e-doublehockeysticks is!

Re: Hello....
Welcome!
Since you are doing this together, cooking will be easier.
Also, Check out the recipe links provided by Carole above. Look for the type of things you can make in quantity that can be frozen...Linda's recipe link usually says yes or no to freezing. Then portion it out and freeze. You will save some time and build up a little stockpile in the freezer of some quick meals, just micro and eat. Examples---Spinach Lasagna and Taco Bake.259/206/149
