  • Saying Hello

Hi every one. I go by the hacker alias Coffeenerd.

I been lurking here for about 6 weeks now while starting Atkins and thought I would introduce myself since the site seems to be a very useful tool with kind people.

So I am 32 years old and a male. About 4 years ago I managed to go from 280 down to 230 doing Weight Watchers but then I hit a nice 4 year wall of not being able to lose anymore :-( I did manage to keep it all off which was very impressive since that is the hardest part of the weight loss journey.

On Nov 1 2009 I thought I would give Atkins a try. I lost 12 pounds the first 2 weeks, then I stalled for 2 weeks, but managed to lost another 5 pounds since for a total of 17. So far so good.

I hope to contribute around here. It seems like you have a very nice group going.

At some point I will. Right now at this time I am happy with what I am eating and not bored with my choices. I just tend to eat a few things for months on end then move on to something else. When I am bored with what I am eating now I will move on to OWL.

          And thanks for the wish's.

Adding 5 net carbs of Induction vegetables won't change you're not being bored.

Best to do the plan as Dr. Atkins wrote it.

He never intended for people to stay on Induction for a long time ... the 2nd phase is called Ongoing Weight Loss for a reason!

                OWL rocks.

C'mon - more veggies on Rung 1, heavy cream and soft cheese on Rung 2, and then Rung 3 - yay, nuts and seeds!

You can have heavy cream during induction. Are you allowed more on rung 2? not that I need it I just would not know what to do with more cream.

Yes, and try whipping that cream.

If you have stopped loosing weight after 2 weeks on induction what have you been eating? How much water are you drinking (pure water, nothing added), what type of exercise are you doing? Are you taking a multi-vitamin without iron everyday?

You probably won't need more than 2-3 tbs of heavy cream. The only time when I used more (in a day) was when I made panna cotta. This happened once in the past two years... and I think I was already in OWL Rung 4 or 5 when I tried the recipe.

But other than heavy cream, you can have cottage cheese, ricotta, yogurt... There are a lot of delicious recipes you can make with these.

It was just the 2 weeks after induction it stopped, but then about 10 days later i started to lose weight again. Not big deal. I lost 5 the 2 weeks after. It always seems to come off in spurts. I kinda expect to not lose anything for the next 2 weeks then have a 4 or 5 pound drop after that.

I drink at minimum 3 liters of water a day, but usually much more then that. On the weekend I might have a cup of decaf but that has only happened 2 times when out with friends.

And the diet it pretty steady. 2 eggs for breakfast with 4 strips of turkey bacon (I count the carbs), a salad with lettuce, tomato and cucumber with 2-3 oz of cheese, then for supper I have some sort of meat with broccoli or cauliflower.

I also looked into OWL last night. I think I will move onto that Friday when I go shopping since I need more veggies.
