  • I could use some help... Please!

I am new to the site... My name is Zach, I am 16 and sadly enough over 300 lbs. I am pretty darn active for a big kid, I love sports and getting outside, but have trouble losing weight, I joined the Atkins diet and it worked so well, but for some reason I cannot seem to stay on it, I do It for like a week at a time and lose like 12 lbs, I am extremely happy with the results, but I don't know whats up with me. It someone could help me out there, like let me know what they did to stay motivated and some DELICIOUS snack ideas and lunch ideas, that would be so helpfull, And the snack ideas, I am not so much of a health nut, so like chilled cucumbers dont do it for me, I LOVE protein basically anything that has to do with meat, and MILK, but if anyone could help me out here, that would be GREAT!

No one under the age of 18 should be doing any of the weight loss phases of Atkins without the knowledge and help of parents and pediatrician.

As atkinsgal08 suggested - have you talked to your parents and doctor about this?

Do you own a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)? If so, read it, and have your parents read it. A lot of the ways people go astray are discussed there.

Runkinator, you are very young, so don't feel rushed to do something drastic. At this point I would get the DANDR 2002 book and read it, and see if this is what you think you should do. If this is something that reflects your issues, then I would talk to your parents and let them know what you have learned. "Teach" them on your new knowledge, and see if they can support you. In the mean time, you can start by eliminating al the junk food: Fast food (pizza; McDonald's, etc; french fries; candy; diet soda and all the stuff). You can have some responsibility in what goes into your mouth! ;-)
Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.

          Hi Runkinator -

There is a different bookforteens as you'll need more nutrition than an adult - I hope you will check it out and use it for your health. The name is "Feed your Kids Well" by Dr. Fred Pescatore. Dr. Pescatore was an associate of Dr. Atkins.

There is a teen forum here on the board that may be helpful for you also, Georgiana, one of our moderators watches over it so you'll be in good hands there. Atkins For Teens - Atkins Diet.

You say you haven't been able to stick with the program for more than a week at a time.....but then you say you want milk - it sounds like you need to get the correct information on what you should and should not be eating and drinking.

Make sure your parents sign off on you loosing weight and doing it correctly.
