  • Starting 1/1/10 after 6 year break!!

    Hi Everyone,
    My names Julie & Im restarting the Atkins way of life after a 6 year break (& 42 lb weight increase ).
    I wish Id stuck with it now, as it was really sucessful for me at the time & I loved the food but, life got in the way....no excuse really.
    Anyway, enough of my sob story, Im back, Im determined & Im gonna be that fit, healthy.....& SLIM person I used to be....cant wait to get back in all those clothes I outgrew, lol.

    welcome and good luck jem - look forward to hearing about your journey.

    Stop over to the Second Time Around Club area - we check in daily - just to keep us all focused.

    Also a good time to join the challenges - they have helped me tremendously. You'll see new ones starting up right about now for the new month.

        Lost 15 pounds 9/18/08-01/08/09, Ended on OWL Rung 6 (had a baby!)

          Hi Julie... Welcome! I agree with Barrnone, come join us over at STAC for our daily check ins. It does help keep you on track when you are reporting each day.

          Best wishes, and after 6 years, make sure you read the 2002 version of the book.

            Thank you for the warm welcome, you really are a friendly lot :0)
            Im definatley gonna come join you at the STAC. If Im honest, its really my 3rd time round.......I had a really pathetic attempt at re-starting a few years ago.....lasted for about 3 weeks & my heart really wasnt in it.
            Id love to start again right now, Im so motivated but, Im off to my best mates birthday party in a minute & my daughters New Years Party Thurs.....even though I know I can still eat/drink the right stuff, I dont want to get dis heartened right at the start so, am going to wait til new years day.....its not so much a resolution, more a deadline for my kids to get all the savoury stuff in the house I love ate cos, they arnt going to see it in the house again any time soon lol. Kids are lucky I dont have a sweet tooth else the choccie/puddings/sweets would be banned too.
            Im off out now, will join the 2nd timers tomorrow

              Hi there!!
              Welcome aboard!

              I am restarting myself and was sooo torn about starting now (yesterday actually) or waiting till after the 1st.. But I couldn't help myself, I started!
              It'll be a struggle through the parties, but it's ok... its worth it!

              Good luck with being good tonight, you can do it!!

              Anyway, welcome again, will be seeing you around.

              Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

              Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
              Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

              so:
              Restart Progress:
              12/28/09 ~ 235.1
              01/04/10 ~ 229.0
              01/11/10 ~ 229.0 Grrrrr....
              (Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)
              01/18/10 ~ 227.4
              01/5/10 ~ 226.8

                Hi and welcome back to Atkins Julie --

                Good for you wanting to get back on plan! This is a great place to be and you'll find all the support you want or need. If you haven't already, read the 2002 DANDR book it's the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase – check www.half.com or www.amazon.com. Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron vitamin daily.

Make sure you are eating enough vegetables – vegetables are a huge part of your daily menu and is where most of your net carbs should be coming from.
