What better day to begin my new life than the first day of the new year. I'm 72 years old, still work and very active. Had triple bypass 4/1/09 so I know I have to change lifestyle and lose weight. Also a Type 2 Diabetic and Atkins will definitely help there. Did Atkins in the early 90's and lost about 20 pounds. Quit smoking 3/19/09 and have been smoke-free since. Of course I gained weight and that's why I'm here. I'm a member of a quit smoking board and the support there is fantastic, and I'm hoping this board will do the same for the Atkins lifestyle. If I could be successful in quitting smoking, I can do Atkins again. It will take more planning of menus, etc. But it works. Thank you for being here!

Re: Atkins + ME = A New Me in 2010
Welcome to ADBB
I have visited a couple of other groups, and I am constantly impressed with the level of support this group gives. I think you will be too.
If you haven't done so yet, may I first recommend that you read the 2002 version of Atkins New Diet Revolution. Quite a few things changed since you did this in the 90's.
In the Main forum, there is a section Atkins for Health, and within that a thread for Diabetes & Atkins which I think you may find helpful.
Also, congratulations on quitting smoking !!
Even if it was for the triple bypass, that's still an amazing success.
Visit often, ask lots of questions, and realize you will be given the right answers, not necessarily the answers you want to hear
