  • Ready to go!

    Hi all!

My name is Annie, I'm 25 and I work fulltime with no kids or husband - so I've only got myself to take care of, and it's about time I do!

After four weeks on Low Calorie, with only 4lbs lost, I've decided that it's not for me. As of next week I'm starting the induction phase, and I couldn't be more exitied

I think I've ordered the wrong book though - I think mine is from 2004, not 2002. How big of a deal is this?

Another question I have; do most of you only do induction for 2 weeks, or have you been on induction as long as it's taken you to loose half the weight you need to lose?

    Happy New Year!

    Annie

    299 pounds and counting… down.

It could be the right book. What's the title?

Staying on Induction until you loose "half the weight" isn't how Atkins is done "by the book".

Many people fail by staying on Induction too long.

There's 4 phases to Atkins for a reason ... Induction is about getting your body ready to lose, OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) is where you lose most of your weight, Pre-maintnenance is where you lose the last 5-10 pounds (and cement the habits you've learned) and Maintenance is the rest of your life (maintaining the weight loss).

Until you have the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (copyright 2002, could have been printed in 2004), check out:

It's the Diet Rev. one - but I've read somewhere that it's only OK if it's the 2002 or earlier version?

Maybe it was a later reprint. The books they published after 2003 were called different things - so you may have the right one.
Is it called Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and does it in the induction chapter tell you to eat 3 cups of vegetables?

I haven't received it yet! It's prob in the mail somewhere still :S
But is that the main difference? I've already set up a meal plan for the first two weeks, following the guidelines you guys have written here.

                Re: Ready to go!

Well it depend what version it is. The 72 edition and teh 2003 edition are really two almost completely different plans. But let's see what your version is when you get it. The lists we have here is 2003 and if you start with them you'll be good.
Is it difficult to do this where you are you think?

You don't really want an earlier version.

OK! Good to know - I feel safe then
If not difficult, then at least expensive! I just quit smoking today, so I plan on using my cigarettebudget towards food with more fat and protein

Expensive would be my guess too. If you can buy meat in large quantities and freeze down that would probably help.

I wish I had a freezer, but I don't! Mine is the size of a small handbag LOL

I'm thinking tuna from a can is going to be my salvation.

                            Hi and welcome to you!

Congrats on quitting smoking -- many of us did the same thing and we know how wonderful it feels! Until your book comes you can go here http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...tion-faqs.html and check the facts about the plan. When your book comes you can check your book against the items there - that way you'll know if you have the right book or not.

Plan your meals for a fews days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily. Look at the challenges to see if there is anything that interests you.

Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html . If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

                            Good luck to you!
