  • Second Time Around...

Hi. My name is Ally, and this will be the second time I am on the Atkins Diet. In April 1996 with the help of a local center, I tried and lost 50 lbs on the Atkins Diet in 3 months. The weight did come off quickly, however, it didn't please my family too well. They weren't aware that I was on the diet, and assumed that I was sick. The comments and the glares were negative, that I gain 40 lbs back within a year. I can't believe that they made me feel that low...so 14 years later and a baby, I will attempt again to lose 50 lbs with no family nearby. I'm currently 205 lbs and 5'9. I don't consider myself obese, as my height helps me out. I started the diet this morning, and will use this forum as my guide. Good luck to me and everyone out there...Ally

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. We'll be here to support you where you didn't have support before.

Plan your meals for a fews days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily.

Look at the challenges to see if there is anything that interests you - start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) locally check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com. Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html . If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

      Good luck to you!

Thanks for your encouragement to all, as Day 1 is slowing coming to an end...and I've done good...plenty of water and eating turkey leftovers with green beans. Now I gotta plan on my weekly menu. Thanks again, and good luck to you all!
