  • Hey All!

Hey everyone! Thought i better come and introduce myself!

After looking for a good diet which wouldnt let me get bored and keep me resiticted I stumbled across this site. I had a nosey through the before and after pics forum and I cant believe how much weight and how fantastic people look after doing this diet.

SO!! Im starting induction today and hoping that im going to have some serious weight loss on it. I recently got engaged and although we havent set a date yet i dont want to get to the point when im too heavy and have even less motivation to fit into my wedding dress!! lol!

Still trying to get my head around the rules a bit, as im slightly confused but hopefully ill pick it up quickly with all the tips on here!!

    Re: Hey All!

Welcome.Firstly I hope your not just looking at this as a diet for quick weight loss because you should see it as a new lifestyle which you will continue to follow (maintenance) even when you have lost the weight.
Secondly you seem like you have not read the book and will follow the diet according to what you read on the site but you should know the rules and should follow them according to the book before you start.Do you have DANDR 2002?

      Welcome, Nicola!

As Sham wrote, the book we go by here is Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002). If you want to make Atkins your lifestyle, this is a book you'll need.

      These might help:

As a teacher, this time of year is hard. Two words....spring parties. My sixth grade class asked for a spring party and I happily obliged them. Today I was faced with.

Hello, and happy Friday to you all in Low Carb Land. I tried to get away with it, but I just can't do it anymore. I thought I'd do my own modified induction, and I.

Hi,I'm Joy and I started Atkins on Oct. 2nd. Ihad a rough first two days with cravings, but I am beginning to adjust. Have lost 6lbs. I do have some gastrointestinal.

        Re: Hey All!

Not at all, im completely commited to losing my weight. My reason Im saying im glad its not restricted is that, up until about 8 months ago, ive spent the last 3 years of my life being in the gym 6 days a week eating a seriously restictive, completely unhealthy diet ( ie, no breakfast, 1 weetabix for lunch, small salad for tea), and yet after hours of spin classes, boxing classes, what seems like 2 millions stomach crunches, and 1 and a half hours a day on a treadmill running, I just cant seem to shift my belly fat and get that flat stomach im looking for.

I have the New diet revolution book and have read through it but theres little things which dont quite fit round properly in my head. (I have a tendency to over think things and make them more confusing than they already are!). I think its just a case of nervous to start a new diet ive never tried before and the inexperience of it.

              Re: Hey All!

I have a question, What i read in the book was tht eggs you can eat liberally. However on the atkins diet site, i can see that eggs contain a carb count, so should i be counting these in? Im starting to worry now that i could be over my carb allowance

I think Dr. Atkins did not expect people to eat a dozen eggs per day.

                Eggs do have carbs.

I wouldn't trust the carb counts from Atkins.com though. Many are wrong.

To see how many carbs are in an egg, you can use the USDA database: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

should i be counting these in?
Yes. Everything you eat needs to be counted. You can use FitDay to keep track of your foods, carbs, etc.

                FitDay uses the USDA database.
