  • Hi from Kelli in Ga...

I'm Kelli from Ga...44 yr old stay at home mom, homeschooling mom and just tired of being overweight. After gaining 40lbs each with my last 2 kids 9/10 yrs ago I just could not take all of the weight off. I was TIRED! Being a stay at home mom, I cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner with all the yummy baked goodies for the family and it's just doggone hard to diet when you're home all day.

Diagnosed with breast cancer 2 yrs ago (age 42), treatments completed over a yr ago, I am ready to be healthy....and it starts right here!

I hope I will be able to encourage others (and get it too) and look forward to a new me.
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All my days were written in Your book before one of them ever came to be. Psalm 139:16

Stay at home mom...Homeschooling Mom...and lovin' it

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. Atkins is a very healthy way to eat so you should start feeling so much better real quick!

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) locally check online at
      www.half.com or www.amazon.com.

Plan your meals for a fews days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables.
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)
Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily. Look at the challenges to see if there is anything that interests you - start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there!
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html . If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

      Good luck to you!!

Re: Hi from Kelli in Ga...

I think I did pretty good yesterday (my first day) and today. I baked cinnamon rolls for the kids and hubby this morning and I didn't even lick the icing that came with them. Hubby decided against the rolls and to join me for an omelet so that was good. Today was a little difficult, only because I had to go to my oldest daughters right after breakfast (she's epileptic w/ a newborn and was having some jerks in her arms) so I pretty much had to rush out without preparing anything for me. I just grabbed the boiled eggs in the fridge and a bag of pork rinds. I made everyone else grilled cheese and I ate my boiled eggs, 2 slices of cheese and rinds. So yes, it is getting easier to prepare for the family but not eat it myself. Tonight I had tilapia w/ green, red and yellow pepper (some onions but I tried to keep away from them) along with a salad (probably less than 2 c. total including the veg, cheese and eggs). I even read the ingredients on my seasoned salt and found it had dextrose as the second or third ingredient so I just made my own fish spice without the sugar...much better than plain ol' seasoned salt!

All in all...I think I've done pretty good. I have to get some cream though. I bought half n half thinking it would be ok but someone corrected me on my other post.

OHHHHH...and I found DANDR (c 1992) at Goodwill for 1.50 so I was excited since that was recommened to me as well.
