  • hi from the netherlands

I searched for more information on how to get away from my current stall and so I found the bulletin board.
I started this WOE on feb 1st after stopping smoking 2 weeks before and the gaining weight that seems to come with that :no
Untill now I lost weight quite nicely, but since 5 weeks I was looking at the same weight over and over again.
Weird enough this morning I was down 1 lbs again, so maybe only reading this board already helped ensive
Something I really look forward to: I am getting married july 3 !!!!!
So one of the reasons to not cheat at all is my goal to look really REALLY great on that day

I'm not from the Netherlands, but I'd like to say keep at it even when you get to a stall.

DANDR tells you to examine closely all the foods you are eating when you stall.
Perhaps there are hidden carbs in sauces and dressing?
Perhaps you've had a carb creep?
    Have you added/changed medication?
Changes in your life, like stress could impact your eating?

Or it could be your body simply adjusting to your new weight, and could "resist" for a bit until you break through.

Oh, and I do recommend not to cheat. You could try it for yourself, but I am telling you, you feel absolutely awful when you cheat, and I'm not talking about the guilt factor. I feel bloated, sluggish, sleepy, actually, I just feel plain awful for the next few days. I know everyone feels different effects from cheating, but I can tell you, everyone does feel them!

PS. try not to weigh yourself everyday :-p

Welcome to the board! So many people here are getting married.

Great job so far! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Try modifying your exercise program a bit, sometimes that can help jumpstart some weight loss as well.

          Good luck!

            Hi everybody !!
            Thanks for the welcome !!
Even though I stall I never even thought of quiting this WOL, the energy and all is too good to give up on and I just know I will get away from it (the stall I mean).
It is just depressing when you make your weekly weighing and it again says the same weight (well maybe one ounce more or less)
I also think the quitting to smoke is a part of it, I guess my metabolism has to get adjusted and so well I am already happy with the weight I got.
My minigoal was to be about 170 lb when I get married, no need to reach 152 at that point, that would be unreasonable, I already reached my first mini, to be 184, so I am doing well on that departement.
For the rest what in fact frustrates me the most about that stall: I eat pure induction, no cheating, no weird dressings or sauces, I only eat what I make myself, I don't take any medication and I already got rid of the cheese weeks ago.
What I did find out now from this board though is that I might be eating too little, well I will go on and experiment on that and my weekly weighing will tell it all :yes
Thanks again for the cheering on and......of course you get to see the pictures, hehehe.

Have you tried to measure yourself? I have read so many posts where people don't lose weight but they lose inches - and that's the important thing, because muscle weighs twice as much as fat!

Also, what about using a dress that you used to be able to fit into, as a goal? Just because your scales aren't budging doesn't mean your clothes won't feel looser... and if they don't, have you thought of all the muscle that is replacing your fat stores?

                Thanks Tickle for your worries
I do also measure myself and I did lose some in the meantime, but not too much.
I just want to find out why I am on this stall.
Don't worry, I won't give up, I am not thinking I will get overdepressed, I just want to find out the reason why I am on the same weight for 5 weeks and well, maybe get away from the stall.
That dress is a good tip, I already know what one to chose, thanks !!!

                    Hi Soliwit! :wave

Have you posted a couple of your daily menus on ADBB to be reviewed? The moderators can help out here - maybe there are hidden carbs in your foods, or there's a food that is on the Acceptable list but is causing you to stall?

I have read so many posts where Atkiners have stalled for as long as you have, but they stuck it out and suddenly 5lbs fell off in one hit.
We also stall because our bodies are trying to adjust to to the new weight and may resist for a while till you break your stall.

Yesterday I read the section in DANDR regarding breaking stalls as I am going through a little bit of a stall myself. It suggests cutting out foods like cheese, avocado and artificial sugar-based items for a week to see if this would break a stall as for some of us, it stops us from losing weight. Try it out - I know the cheeses in the Netherlands are so yummy, but it's only for a week!

Ok ok, this morning I just HAD to look(), cause I just FELT I was a losing again and YES YES YES it worked, I had to eat more mayonaise and olive oil and more protein, SUCH a burden :icondance :icondance :icondance

                          Hey Soliwit,

I stopped stalling when I upped my fats/oils too! I found that my proportion of fats/protein/carbs were quite right and when I adjusted to 65/30/5 it definitely worked!

Thanks all you sweeties for welcoming me !!!!
I don't know if I got the % right with fat, protein and carbs, I have a really hard time using that fitday site, heh, since I just can't get used to using your way of measuring, I am so used to using grams, hehehe and well those 'servings' is kinda hocuspocus to me.
Thing is though I HAVE to get used to it :
I am marrying in TEXAS and move there at about october/november :icondance
That's also one of the big reasons I initially searched for an American atkins-forum.
I was on a Dutch forum before and had a lot of help there but well, the needed answer on my stall I found here, hehehe.
OOooh I could just HUG all of you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
