  • Newbie to forum, not to atkins!

    Hello all-
My name is Carrie. I started atkins in 2003, lost 80 pounds and kept it off for many years. I got ill in March and was put on meds- have gained almost 60 pounds back. So its back to induction again. This is the only "diet" that has ever worked for me- so I am in day four and already feeling better and lost 4 pounds.
I know the second time around weight loss is slower, but I wont be deterred.
    )
Im 6'3, so when some see my goal weight, they may want to faint lol, but 175 on me is perfect! I cant wait to get back there.
I didn't have a forum last time- this place is a fount of info. I love it. Have read for a while now and decided to finally introduce myself.

Welcome back -- I believe whatever the individual feels good at is the perfect weight for them! Good for you not wanting to be pencil thin with your height!

I hope you’ve read the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book it's the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase – check www.half.com or www.amazon.com.

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron vitamin daily. There are so any different forums here there is something for just about everyone. Since you've done Atkins before you may enjoy the STAC (second time around club), they have a daily sign in that people enjoy Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html. If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.

          Carole

10 pounds in a week? I did not lose that much that fast last time...I feel a little scared.

Hard to know. If that rate of loss keeps up, it's not really safe, per Dr. Atkins.

Are you eating all your vegetables? Are you eating enough food? Are you getting all your water?

Yes- this is old hat for me, I lived on atkins for a long time, its kinda like riding a bike. lol...but this is new...so if this rate keeps up I will raise my carbs. As thrilling as it is to lose so fast, it cant be healthy!

Re: Newbie to forum, not to atkins!

Thats great! I'm also back on Atkins after a few years. Making it a lifestyle change, in stead of just another, "diet." I'm 6'5, and I'm gunning for 250.

                  Good Luck!

Re: Newbie to forum, not to atkins!

                    14 days- 13 pounds gone!
It was very easy to get back into my carb counting ways from years ago. I know how to do this program, I know how to live it, it is so right for me! I don't know why I ever fell off the wagon! I regret doing so.
I kept all my "skinny clothes" and I'm having them cleaned, I cant wait to wear my cute black pants and sleeveless shirts! Whoohooo!
DH also doing diet- he lost 14 pounds- we both lost it from our stomach areas. That was the last place we gained, so it makes sense to lose it there first!
(enjoying the high, I'm so excited! This is where motivation comes from!)
